Thorin (and Dis of course) reigned until he was old and grey before passing the title of king on to his heir,
(because Fili deserved to be king okay? He’d have made such an amazing king.)and of course Fili had Kili at his side and they lived long and healthy lives until they died naturally.
OMG Friend, me too, me too! I have trouble watching that movie where they insist on showing the AU where the Durins die! Ridiculous! Everybody knows Thorin sat the Throne Of Erebor for AGES as King Under The Mountain, with his Nephews beside him as his Heirs and Princes (and had his Sister crowned as co-regent during his reign…)!
