DUDE! YOU GOTTA POST THE WHOLE STORY CUSE IT GETS BETTER!

She was one of the first volunteers to come to the cave. She worked to cook meals and provide rest for the soldiers and divers trying to get to the boys.

She has 5 acres of land where she farms rice all on her own since her husband died and she left it shortly after planting to go and give what she could to the rescue effort. She returned home a week later to find her fields flooded by the water being pumped out of the cave system.

From what the article says, it doesn’t seem to have destroyed all her (and almost a dozen other farmers) crops but it was a good portion of them.

This woman is wonderful. She could have seen this as a “no good deed goes unpunished” but she just laughed it off and said it was worth it to save those boys.

In relation to the waters being flooded into the fields

Thank you to all the heroes and heroines of this Thai rescue mission 🙏🏼

Good people doing good things is an antidote to the utter fuckjobs

Looks like someone set up a GoFundMe here – any way to verify it’ll go to this hero?

Maybe misusing the name of God isn’t so much about saying the shallow words, “Oh my God,” as it is about using the name of God to justify discrimination, oppression, injustice, racism, slavery, xenophobia, poverty, sexism, islamophobia, ableism, homophobia, war, & the list can go on.

Amen

When I was a wee little Gaslight attending Catholic Sunday schools, and then later in college when I was taking a Bible as Literature class, both my stolid neighborhood deacon and my dapper Protestant professor said almost the exact same thing:

“Taking the Lord’s name in vain isn’t when someone says ‘God damn it.’ It’s when a mortal, fallible human being presumes to put words in God’s mouth and say ‘This is what God wants you to do.’“

Time to reblog again. Holy shit.

Interesting. I never knew this

Think about it, though. Would God be angrier about you using his name to curse someone else out or straight-up putting words in his mouth?

I know which one I’d be pissed over.

Let’s be real for a sec.

“Kal Damn it!”

“Kal said (something I didn’t fucking say.)”

eyup, I know which one would piss me off.

“Outdoor cats” are a menace and should be arrested

not only are urban environments a danger to cats themselves (cars, diseases, insects/ticks, other cats/animals, etc), but they are also technically an invasive species; even well-fed cats will hunt and kill native species. sometimes ur cat won’t come back and if they’re not fixed, they’ll breed and produce feral young which learn to hunt and further disrupt the habitat. keep ur cats inside or on a leash in ur yard

to anyone who lets their cats out because they’re destructive (running around, knocking things over, scratching/ chewing on furniture), yes it’s because they’re bored. no, it’s not a reason to let them outside. it means that the environment they’re in isn’t stimulating enough. just like u have ur phone, laptop, PS4 or whatever, ur cat wants to have fun too!!! they live there just like u do so give them stuff to play with. toys, scratch posts, their own shelves to look down from. some cats will even let u put a leash on them to walk around outside and that’s ok ! even pieces of string taped to shelves is enough to grab their attention now and then. give ur buddies some attention and play with them!!!

in addition to threats ur cats may face when outside: they can wander into peoples’ yards or public parks/spaces. cats will eat plants (most often grass) which normally help them digest, but most times are doused with pesticides and other nasty things. not only that, but they risk munching on plants that are fatal to them (i.e. LILIES are quite popular spring plants and will shut down a cat’s liver with its pollen alone) SO reduce the risk of kitty not coming home BY KEEPING HER INSIDE!!!

if u insist that ur cat should eat grass, u can get them some cat grass which is designed specifically for cats to eat. they come with little planters that u can put on a windowsill and let ur cat munch away on it without worrying about pesticides!! grade A organic grass
