In case anyone’s wondering is because getting an x ray once is so barely harmful that it rounds to zero but standing in front of an x ray emitter 40 hours a week for years will definitely kill you

If I go to the bar and have one drink with the bartender I’ll be fine. If the bartender has a drink with every patron then they will die

… I honestly never considered that. It seems so obvious but never crossed my mind. Thank you, twinkcommunist and iridepigs.

Unpopular ASOIAF opinion

It’s okay to simultaneously hold the opinions that: a) racism is wrong, including that against the Dornish, and b) wanting the people (and/or overlords of the people) who tortured and killed Daeron and his lords to be held responsible for their war crimes before they join Westeros is perfectly legitimate.

Minority Led Movie Needs Support!

thepompomgirl:

Hello Tumblr friends

There is a movie that recently came out called “Woman Walks Ahead” starring Jessica Chastain and Micheal Greyeyes that tells the story of Catherine Weldon, an artist, and activist who painted Sitting Bull in 1890.

The movie has a female director and the cast and production team was very conscientious of how they portrayed the Lakota people and their culture.

An exciting step in the right depiction, right?

Unfortunately, the decision has been made to give the movie a VERY limited (and seemingly random) release with only a handful of theaters showing it across the United States for the next couple of days (July 3 – July 5). On top of that, they released the movie on i-tunes and Direct TV with very little promotion beyond the interviews the actors have done, hurting what little theatrical release they might have had. Which is Tragic, this movie was made to be seen in a theater!

When you have a minority led project that portrays its Native characters as real relatable people and the distributors just happen to decide to shoot it in the foot by not giving it a wide release I can’t help but think… What’s really going on here?

So this is my plea out to all of you; if you live in any following areas and a considering your movie option for the next few days, please go support Woman Walks Ahead! If you don’t but still want to support the film, consider buying it on i-tunes or talk about it on social media! Reblog this post so people who do live near the right towns might be able to support the movie!

Phoenix, Arizona

Santa Monica, California

Washington, District of Columbia

Bradenton, Florida

Orlando, Florida

Ann Arbor, Michigan

Southfield, Michigan

Cherry Hill, New Jersey

New York, New York

Solon, Ohio

Grapevine, Texas

Houston, Texas

The only way Hollywood is going to know that we want more movies with positive representation, female directors, female leads, etc is if we support the movies that aim to show it. I really don’t want studio and distribution executives to use this beautiful movie they set-up to fail as an excuse for why they don’t support minority lead projects in the future.

Thank you for your time and please pass on this post!

ok, i’m built like a noble ox. like i am 6′1 and i am sturdy lady. like thighs for days. if you try to move me. you will be moved. body images aside (lol, i am self conscious about my size, yeah it’s life)

so like, i am very used to girls standing next to me in public places. i end up acquiring a pack of ladies. just because women are like, that lady is a lady men stay away from. i am jerk kryptonite (usually, i get my fair share of creeps, such is life) but most men have self preservation that this 6′1 ox will break them. and i will

so usually i am in my own phone and look up to another lady standing next to me. and i will immediately look up and make eye contact and nod. like, you know, that nod. i see you and you can talk if there is something wrong. i end up on a reg basis being a defacto bodyguard to these young ladies and small women while waiting for buses and in the metro.

i am a large oak tree. i protect the other birds.

ladies, we all got roles. find tree in the wild. we’re always happy to provide shelter from the creeps.

i’ve regularly said, “move on, she doesn’t want to be your friend”

how is this funny to anyone.

Those people obviously don’t realize the extremely high kill rate for cats at shelters, not to mention that people literally dump indoor cats outside when they don’t want them anymore, and indoor cats often die due to starvation/predators (duh they have no survival skills).

Also – I might also be crying.

Jackson Galaxy is awesome. His story is is that he used to be a drug addict, and that while he was in the beginning of his recovery he saved a stray cat and nursed it back to life, and in return the cat essentially did the same for him, and ever since then, he’s taught himself everything there is to know about cats and their behavior. Cats saved his life, so he’s saving cats lives. He’s awesome.

His show has taught me more about how to take care of a cat than I learned from growing up with one.

Jackson Galaxy is the patron fucking saint of cats and I swear to god I will fight anybody coming for him.

You will catch these hands.

I don;t like when people make fun of Jackson Galaxy when he gets emotional.

Because a.) I get really fucking emotional over cats too, fuck you

and b.) it’s mostly because he’s a man and a patriarchal belief that men can’t cry or have feelings.
