Ok so hear me out on this one:

NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM TV SHOW

THINK ABOUT IT

  • We get to go more in-depth with our favs
  • We get to see if our favorite ships could work
  • We’d see more Larry bonding with and figuring out more about the different exhibits
  • Hell, if it takes place after natm3 maybe we get to see new exhibits/characters

I know logically there are some problems with this considering it’s been like 4 years since the last one came out and Robin Williams is dead.

But what if it was animated? I mean, we’ve seen funny but also serious animated movies/shows before, with How to Train Your Dragon, Wreck-it Ralph, Rise of the Guardians, and others, so we know it could work.

And if you’re asking what possible plot-lines could be?

MUAHAHAHAHA I’M SO GLAD YOU ASKED

I’ve seen ideas on this very website and come up with a few of my own as well as tweaked some of the ones I saw, including:

  • Some shady person makes the Tablet do weird things and basically makes the exhibits ACTUALLY alive at night.
  • Larry finds an artifact that can make the exhibits alive all the time and the miniatures life-sized as long as they’re in close enough proximity to it, so he invents a thing to fund the building of a small town where everyone can live
  • Wea finds out there is a model of her son somewhere and they have to go get him.
  • Jed struggles with his feelings for Octavius. (As a subplot)
  • A rich collector moves in near enough to the Natural History Museum and Larry doesn’t work there at the time so he comes back to find the exhibits in a night-time war against the collection.
  • Ahk flirts with Larry in increasingly obvious ways. (also as a subplot)

REBLOG TO LET PEOPLE WHO COULD MAKE THIS HAPPEN KNOW THIS IS WANTED AND ADD YOUR OWN IDEAS

OH MY GOSH YES YES YES!!

We could see Nicky bonding with the exhibits and maybe him, Ahk, Octavius and Jed could be like partner in crime and Larry would have to deal with their shenanigans

HOLIDAYS!

Valentine’s day special for Jedtavius!!

The old night guards could come back and try to get the tablet by some crazy scheme and the exhibits and Larry and Nick would have to stop them

Haunted museum anyone???

Nicky would be growing up and facing issues and our favorite exhibits would give him guidance

Nicky having his first crush

Jedtavius bonding with literally anyone

Hmm. Ideas, ideas.

It turns out that Attila is a children’s entertainment genius and starts a YouTube channel for kids, using Museum citizens as guest stars on his weekly show to educate kids about history. (He can speak perfectly fluent English, by the by. He just prefers to speak Hun in order to maintain connect with his otherwise vanished culture and the Tablet translates.) The Miniatures particularly like this idea because they can appear on camera and no one can guess their real size, allowing them to interact with the outside world more often.

Tilly and Laaa have a civil ceremony with Teddy officiating. Cue subplot of Tilly filling out her endless citizenship papers, coz as we left her she was in NY on a work visa. Laaa keeps drawing hearts and daisies in crayon on them.

What happens when the Tablet becomes fully moonlight charged? Could it grant some of the exhibits real, mortal life? Perhaps the Civil War soldiers could gain features. Perhaps we could have a few breeding pairs of the Tasmanian tiger and revive the species.

Ahkmenrah becomes a DJ/composer sensation and starts a nightclub on Museum premises. (Greenlit for fundraising activities, of course.) Featured Special Guest Stars, of course. Think Ariana Grande, etc.

Family friendly, with plenty of adult asides past the radar, of course. As NatM was meant to be.

I will give actual money for this.

Sling Bullets.

In classical Greece and in Roman times, it was customary for slingers to personalise their sling bullets with taunts or insults. One of the favourites was the Greek word Dexai, for example, which can be translated into “Take that!” or “Catch!”. The Romans were very creative in this regard. Sling bullets have been found on the sites of ancient battlefields, bearing such gems as “In the name of Octavian’s ass” or “Show us your ass” or even depicting stylized male genitalia.

The sling was a humble yet very effective weapon, the sling bullets could travel farther than arrows and cause great physical harm and even death to enemy soldiers. Some were shaped so that they could penetrate armour. The bullets lodged themselves under the skin or in the joints, requiring the help of a physician in order to extract them.

can we stop acting like villains doing generic villainous things means that they’re abusive

abuse is a pattern of behavior in an intimate relationship where one party repeatedly acts in order to hold control + power over the other person, the bad guy trying to like blow up the good guy’s spaceship because they’re on opposite sides of a war or whatever is so far beyond the realm of what actually happens in abusive relationships

martinus-cornelius:

A bit of Chapter 2

[…] For a moment Octavius did not know what to say. To think his friend… knew. It angered him that he’d been so easily found out. It showed how little control he actually had over his own thoughts and actions the past year – or more. There was no balm that could soothe the burning shame that crept up his neck, reddening his cheeks. Oh, Brutus had been wise to stray from him a moment ago. He wanted to strangle the man for his audacity to call his superior out like this. “You’re mocking me.”, Octavius said. “You dare mock me.”

Brutus who, despite his jabs and braggin, still had a lot more common sense left within him than one might think, was quick to raise his hands to surrender. “A friendly jest! You know me, my general. I meant no harm.”

Which was not the answer Octavius wanted to hear. “You and your jests do not amuse me today, Brutus. You would do well to guard your tongue.” […]

Chinese fandoms are currently experiencing an actual Purge right now. Every fandom. Accounts are getting banned, all shipping wars has been put on hold. Everyone’s hiding their porn and moving them to ao3.

There’s reward money involved. A recent update to censorship law raised the maximum reward for reporting illicit online materials to 50k yuan (7000 USD), so some people are reporting porn like crazy right now, and apparently, BL fandoms have been especially targeted, where some even more tame things got maliciously misreported.

Anyway, it’s a mess. Content creators are just disappearing off the face of the internet left and right. Expect an influx of Chinese porn fics on AO3.

Well… if there’s one thing out of this mess… nothing bands warring ships/fandoms like censorship…

Seems like the cash reward will be

600,000 yuan ($86,000) from December 1st…!

Tweet pleading for people not to repost any fanart taken offline by Chinese creators

Hey guys, if some awesome person in China translated your fic into Chinese or created fan art, you really should spread the word! This could affect someone you know!

This is also a call out to all you fuckwits that repost art on Tumblr, twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram. Your negligence hurts people.

^^^

This is literally shitty and it has become worse and worse

Hopefully it will stop before long but just take care of how yiou take your stances on ao3 or what’s happening with Tumblr

A chinese homoerotic novel writer is sentenced to 10 years to prison because of “illegal publication”*  and “spread of obscene materials”. After that, China government set up bounty for reporting “illegal publication”. Everyone on weibo, lofter etc. is deleting thier posts.

China is using this act as a way of controling the freedom of speech, it’s not just a matter of “no homo”. They just use the fandom content creators as an easy target and a way to scare people off from writing and publishing things the government doesn’t like.

China is living the Nineteen Eighty-Four novel. Please don’t post chinese fan works, especially not with their original chinese artists/writers right now. You could literally ruin their life.

* in China every book has to be approved by the government before
publication. Anything against the government or with “the wrong idea” will be banned. Their government didn’t pay too much attention to fan books before, but in recent years, they are tightening their grip on their people. Fandom and their activities as a whole has become a target because 1) fandom and their creative community make self-publishing a thing and China doesn’t like that the people know it’s easy to print stuffs (to spread unwanted information/ideas etc. 2) fandom and their creative community is the easiest and obvious target because of the general anti LBGT+ envirnment, general public will support the gornment for “cleansing the society from obscenity” withouth thingking about 1)

this is a thing that just happened

The MSN article was posted Nov. 16, 2018

This censorship is not new. They’re just getting braver about cracking down on whatever they feel like cracking down on because China is in the middle of committing active genocide.

No one is stopping them. Almost no one is even discussing it. Entire peoples are being quietly vanished.

They came for the people, and they succeeded. Now they’re going after the writers. And the world is letting them do it.

IMPORTANT: So they had these cards in the women’s restrooms at this doctor’s office that I was at. I’m really happy that they put them in there because it makes it easier for a woman to escape an abusive relationship without the abuser expecting anything. It gives me hope when I see things like this.

Oh yes, because women are never abusers.

I never said that they can’t/ aren’t. I’m well aware that some women are. I was just trying to talk about a positive thing that I found in a restroom. Don’t turn my post into something that it’s not. God fucking damn it, it’s like you can’t talk about something positive on this site without someone trying to ruin it or twist the original posters words.

Thank you so much for the positive post, and the VERY true words at the asshole commenting on your post. This is the exact reason why I don’t like this website sometimes. Christ.

If you have to qualify Situation A with “but Situation B happens, too,” do you actually give a shit about Situation B? Or are you looking for ways to derail Situation A?

^

40% of domestic violence is experienced by men, do you suppose they also put these cards in the men’s restroom?

Wouldn’t seeing these cards in the restroom alert abusers that there were probably the same cards in the other gender restroom, possibly making them more violent and cutting off their partner even more from resources that could help them?

This seems ill thought out. Unless, of course, they are only in the women’s restroom. In which case they are ignoring 40% of domestic violence victims. I wonder why.

getting really tired of this 40% myth and how frequently everyone scrambles to believe it because they want to look reasonable and fair.

While some people may believe that there is a higher reported incidence of women experiencing violence by their male partners due to men underreporting when they are victims, the reality is the opposite. In 2008, 72 percent of the intimate partner violence against males and 49 percent of the intimate partner violence against females was reported to police.Catalano, Smith, Snyder, & Rand (2009). Bureau of Justice Statistics Selected Findings: Female Victims of Domestic Violence. U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, NCJ 228356.

Researcher Elspeth McInnes…  recounts some of her research that showed that when men talked about women’s violence against men, some cited abuse as not having a hot meal on the table, not having the children bathed before bed, or women spending money on gambling or shopping. At the more severe end of the spectrum, they nominated verbal and emotional violence as abuse. Then, a tiny minority documented physical abuse, and an even smaller minority named sexual abuse.

“Women were talking about being run over, being drugged and raped at knifepoint, having their children dangled over high rise balconies till they did as they were told and of course you get verbal and emotional violence,” says McInnes. “When we were talking about physical violence against men, one of the worst examples was that she banged his head with the cupboard door – which isn’t good – but the sheer level of fear, harm and terror that women talked about was simply not present in what the men’s data showed.”

The vast majority of domestic assaults are committed by men. Even when men are victimized, 10% are assaulted by another man. In contrast, only 2% of women who are victimized are assaulted by another woman.2

Two studies have found that at least 40% of police officer families experience domestic violence, (1, 2) in contrast to 10% of families in the general population.(3) A third study of older and more experienced officers found a rate of 24% (4), indicating that domestic violence is 2-4 times more common among police families than American families in general.

in conclusion while domestic abuse hotlines in men’s bathrooms would be great too, women are the majority of victims of violent, life-threatening domestic abuse by a lot more than 40%, and men are still the majority of perpetrators of violent, life threatening domestic abuse, even to other men and boys. this is not a remotely equivalent situation.

using abused men and boys to prop up the myth that women abuse men right back nearly as much is toxic, abhorrent nonsense. we need to cut it the fuck out.

Thank god somebody debunked the 40% myth.

Men: The conversation isn’t about me? WELL LEMME FIX THAT…

“Where are the men whose partners are forcing them to have unwanted sex? Where are the men who are fleeing to shelters in fear for their lives? How about the ones who try to get to a phone to call for help, but the women block their way or cut the line? The reason we don’t generally see these men is simple: They’re rare…….Even if abused men didn’t want to come forward, they would have been discovered by now…..Among my physically abusive clients, nearly one third have been arrested as a result of a call to the police that came from someone other than the abused woman. If there were millions of cowed, trembling men out there the police would be finding them. Abusive men commonly like to play the role of victim, and most men who claim to be “battered men” are actually the perpetrators of violence, not the victims.”

-Lundy Bancroft from Why Does He Do That

“Men tend to underestimate their use of violence, while women tend to overestimate their use of violence. Simultaneously men tend to overestimate their partners use of violence while women tend to underestimate their partners violence. Thus men will likely overestimate their victimization, while women tend to underestimate theirs. As evidence of this, men are more likely to call the police, press charges and less likely to drop charges than are women.

-Michael Kimmel from Male Victims of Domestic Violence

Violence against men is horrible and just as immoral as violence against women. It is also rare.

when I was 14 I worked in a grocery store and one day I got to bag Stephen King’s groceries and of course, being the little horror fiction nerd I am I was completely starstruck

I think he thought I was gonna ask for an autograph because I was not even lowkey staring I was full on moon-faced and bouncing and he kept looking over at me hesitantly like aw jeez kid fuck off

anyways I finally managed to squeak out that I was a huge fan and asked for advice on writing, “how do I write as well as you do?” in my horrible thick German accent and broken ass English and he gave me the best writing advice I have ever received

“shit kid, stop worrying about how other people do it and just write your story”

14 years later my wife and I nearly hit him with our car because he was jaywalking

However you think this story will end is wrong
