A person I follow retweeted to spread the question to followers, and I asked the poster if she was comfortable with queer fanfic. She answered ‘very!’ so I have recced @judayre and @werpiper. Does anyone else know of any Jewish fic authors reclaiming dwarves? (I’ve already asked @asparklethatisblue to recommend which of their fics to point her to, if any)
I know I’ve got some Jewish followers, and I am very aware that my fandom circle is small. I mostly stick to the nwalin corner, and I’d like to be able to recommend a wider variety of fics.

It’s been mentioned before in this thread, but I’m still working on Sons of Jerusalem. 🙂 (Rated E, heavy material in it consistent with canon.) Main pairings are currently Bagginshield and Nwalin, with some Balin/Dori, and in future there will be Gimli/Legolas.
During WWII, Irena got permission to work in the Warsaw ghetto, as a Plumbing/Sewer specialist. She had an ulterior motive.
Irena smuggled Jewish infants out in the bottom of the tool box she carried. She also carried a burlap sack in the back of her truck, for larger kids.
Irena kept a dog in the back that she trained to bark when the Nazi soldiers let her in and out of the ghetto. The soldiers, of course, wanted nothing to do with the dog and the barking covered the kids/infants noises.
During her time of doing this, she managed to smuggle out and save 2500 kids/infants. Ultimately, she was caught, however, and the Nazi’s broke both of her legs and arms and beat her severely.
Irena kept a record of the names of all the kids she had smuggled out, In a glass jar that she buried under a tree in her back yard. After the war, she tried to locate any parents that may have survived and tried to reunite the family. Most had been gassed. Those kids she helped got placed into foster family homes or adopted.
In 2007 Irena was up for the Nobel Peace Prize. She was not selected. Al Gore won, for a slide show on Global Warming.

how is this funny? this is really sad. All the male athletes have to do is perform well in their sport (which is what matters), and they’ll be taken seriously and respected. But women have to not only do that, but also be sufficiently “pretty” in order to be respected. And she knows this, to the point where she won’t show her NATURAL face even after such a big achievement because of the pressure women face to be dolled up and beautiful at all times.
It’s massively fucked up and I don’t understand how anyone could ever think this is funny.
