It’s cool that you think it’s cool that I love the Blackfyres, friend anon. Many people in the fandom (some with a large following) might say it’s sexist, racist, and ableist to do so, even to the point of ignoring GRRM’s words to hate on us fans. Before I get into why I don’t like the Targaryens as a whole family and believe they should stay far away from the Iron Throne, I can direct you to my anti-Da3ron ii tag and a post I wrote about Viserys II’s horrible parenting skills; please read my arguments as to why I don’t think they’re great examples to use when talking about “good” Targaryens.
I don’t exactly make a secret of disliking House Targaryen. Likely ever since the Doom of Valyria, when their house became the sole dragon riders, they’ve had a belief in their own superiority to the detriment of everyone else around them. Pre-conquest on Dragonstone, the Targaryens practiced the rite of First Night, which the locals didn’t protest because they saw their liege lords “as gods;” that’s more a view that belongs to the slave-owning Valyrians than a feudal society like Westeros. And the Targaryens bought that idea of family superiority after Aegon I and his sisters conquered the Seven Kingdoms (Rhaenys I took part in the conquest of the Stormlands and Dorne, which hardly qualifies her as a “good” Targaryen), after their superweapon dragons died in the Dance, and even after they were deposed as the ruling house and exiled to Essos.
