There’s a lot of cool stuff in Tolkien’s world but one thing I can’t always get behind is the morality. I’m supposed to think characters such as Boromir and Thorin had to die in order to be redeemed? I don’t believe either of them were ever bad enough to deserve a “redemption equals death” narrative. What do you think?

I think you’re right. Confession, though: I was ten when I saw Fellowship of the Ring and I thought Boromir was supposed to be evil. XD
