adults, while forcing all children above the age of 5 to sit still, be silent, and obey orders for 7-8 hours a day with minimal breaks, reducing their exposure to fresh air and sunlight to almost nothing, forcing them to alter their natural sleeping patterns to increase productivity, and repeatedly telling them their self worth depends on their being able to follow these instructions perfectly for 13 or more years: kids these days are so lazy! they never go outside! they never want to do anything! clearly it’s not because of us!
It is honestly so heartbreaking to see how many conversations in the notes are comparing who gets 30 minutes for lunch
and an afternoon or two off or no homework until they’re 12 years old.. as if that in ANY way compares to being able to run out in the sun whenever you feel like it and sleep as much as you need in your own rhythm and be in control of what your day looks like and who you spend it with and not being subjected to an environment that is designed to train discipline.
Experiencing true autonomy and freedom isn’t being able to go to the bathroom without asking, or having wednesday afternoons off. Slightly ‘better’ school systems are still designed to acclimatise kids to the drudgery of wage labour.
Obviously I want you to take care of your pets and make sure they get food and fresh water on a regular basis, but cats being huge drama queens and screaming hysterically at you and acting like they’re tragic famine victims who haven’t eaten in weeks and are about to drop dead from starvation right mcfuckin now, because you’re 10 minutes late feeding them is always going to be one of the funniest things to me
the cat who lives at the vet clinic i volunteer at was mad yesterday because his dinner was half an hour late due to a busy day. he proceeded to go to all the (empty dw) garbage cans and tried to knock them over and started desperately scavenging for scraps of food because obviously no one loves him or cares about him and if he must eat garbage to survive then so be it
not food related, but one time my cat cried at me for 20 minutes before i worked out that the reason why she was upset was because there was a coat hanger on her favourite cushion

My cat is a social eater who is not food motivated at all, so I was baffled when I first got him because he didn’t seem to care about food but he would SCREAM at me for hours when I knew his bowl was full. Any time I went to double check that he did indeed have food, he’d book it to the bowl and snarf like his life depended on it, but as soon as I walked away he’d follow me screaming again.
Eventually I figured out that he just wanted a dining companion and was screaming about how we’re a family and families eat together, god damnit! I moved his food bowl under my computer desk and it fixed the problem. But if I’m ever out for more than 12 hours I’ll come home to find him in a passive-aggressive kitty huff because dinner has been ready for hours but he’s been trying to be considerate (unlike some humans) and waiting for me to eat it.
My cats are indoor cats. Being indoor cats, they can’t go outside to hunt for food (mice, rats, birds, etc) to gift to my sister and I.
But they know that the kitchen has food. They know where the easily accessible cat food is. And obviously my sister and I are just Really Big Stupid Hairless cats.
So if my sister and I go without leaving our rooms for too long? My cats will sit outside our doors and scream for our attention, lead us to their food bowls, and then only stop the screaming and leading once they see us sit down at the table and eat something. Because they think we’re hungry.
Your cats are the sweetest beings on the Earth, it makes my heart warm knowing that they exist. They love you very much and they care so much, they want you healthy and happy and will make sure you don’t neglect yourself and oh god they are so perfect. Real pure love exists, I am happy to be alive today.
My neighbor is a hardcore drunk. Like, 9am and dude is drinking vodka, but he had a cat that’s pretty much his honest to god caregiver because I have seen this cat visibly screaming at this man to keep him from hurting himself and sometimes when he hasn’t been outside for a while, the cat will scream at my door until I go outside to knock on the door to check on him. Cats are literal angels.
I have a cat named a Kitty Pryde who has an extra thumb and these giant paws and while she’s not super bright she did learn that she likes being pet. So I must like being petted right? So if I’m watching TV alone she’ll come up and just with her giant paw gently stroke my arm or hand until I pet her back and she waits and pets me again and it goes on a while. Cats are angels.

Omg. We ran out of dry food last week and the cats got wet food for like…four days straight, twice a day. Wet food is only for special occasions and holidays so I knew the cats were in HEAVEN with all the special food. My husband and I finally got our shit together and got them dry food. Now my older cat will not stop screaming at us. He is NOT happy about going back to dry food. 😂

I don’t like the attempted invasion of Dorne. I don’t like what Daeron I did and I think that the Targaryens were utter autocrats. But in terms of merciless war, he was being a twisted version of smart. If you’re an autocrat, you’re a moron if you don’t try to conquer the large power sitting to the south of you.
The Dornish were a minority, but they MORE THAN HELD THEIR OWN against the Westerosi and were not, in fact, oppressed. They had better battle tactics post-dragon; ultimately, it was a war of equal tacticians and powers. The fact that people were pissed off after they were brought in is akin to if Putin personally assassinated the president following Dump (in a hypothetical war that the US started, granted), then because the president after that married Putin’s niece, Russia was allowed enormous concessions and didn’t even have to acknowledge that they meddled in the election OR that Putin murdered the president. And were given several important seats in the Cabinet.

Kids who sought out sexual/romantic interactions with adults…
because they were lonely and needed human interaction/attention
or had emotional needs not being met
because they thought it was the price of being treated with care
or because it was a way to understand/reenact/overwrite/escape previous trauma
because they thought it was normal
or because they had picked up the message that this was how to be daring and cool and sexy/mature
or because they didn’t really understand how it would affect them
because they felt like they deserved it
or because they thought there wasn’t a big difference and “age is just a number”
or because being sexual around adults was the only time people said nice things to them or seemed to like them or notice them

… still did not deserve the abuse they suffered.
Kids who initiate flirtation with adults still don’t deserve abuse.
Adults who aren’t abusers will not take advantage of a kid’s crush or advances. It’s the adult’s responsibility to set clear boundaries and enforce them. It’s an adult’s responsibility to not become sexually or romantically involved with a child. Adults who do are abusers.
Children did not cause those adults to become abusers. Children cannot tempt nonabusers into becoming abusers. Children are never responsible for adults deciding to abuse.
Even if you feel like you made it really easy for them to abuse you, being vulnerable to abuse around a nonabuser doesn’t result in abuse. Your vulnerability wasn’t the cause of the abuse. Their choices were.
If you are unable to condemn anti-semitism without first criticizing Israel or identifying yourself as an “anti-Zionist” or “pro-Palestine,” you’re being anti-semitic.
If you begin every conversation about anti-semitism by asserting that anti-semitism is often or “nearly always” instrumentalized, exaggerated, or fabricated, you’re being anti-semitic. If a Jew talking about anti-semitism fills you with rage, think about why that is. If you need Richard Seymour to give something an “anti-semitic/not anti-semitic” stamp instead of listening to Jews or asking yourself whether you’d tolerate the behavior if it were directed at, say, Muslims or gay men, think about why that is. Here’s something I wanna say real quick, while I’m feeling salty: Amazon has totally contributed to the devaluation of literature. Those prices you see, the $13 they’re asking you to pay for a hardcover book? Those are deep, DEEP discounts that they’re able to implement because they don’t collect sales tax if they can get away with it, they don’t contribute money to the communities where they have a physical presence, they have shitty labor practices, Jeff Bezos has more money than god, etc.
They’re so omnipotent at this point that they’ve normalized the discounted prices for books as the standard. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve had someone come up to me and tell me what the price on Amazon is, expecting me to match it. The number of times I’ve been told, “Oh, it’s cheaper on Amazon, I’ll just get it there.” Even at author events, where book sales DIRECTLY CONTRIBUTE to whether or not that bookstore will be able to get more authors in.
So when you go into a bookstore, and you’re asked to pay $27 for a hardcover, remember: THAT IS THE COVER PRICE. Set by the publishers. The bookstore is not upcharging you. They are asking you to pay the value of the book. Amazon’s low prices come with a cost. Please, just keep that in mind.
